Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 22 years old. I am having irregular periods. I was having sex with my husband for the past one month on alternate days. I am eight days late for my periods by eight days now. I am getting continuous vomit after eating food for the past four days, backache, and slightly tender breast. This morning, I tested negative while checking using a home pregnancy kit. I am confused now. I want to go to my husband's place as he is away. Is travel ok during this time on the train? Whether I am pregnant or not.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. You can travel, if you are pregnant or not. The symptoms you are getting are just due to hormonal imbalance. Mostly your periods are irregular due to ovulation or no ovulation. Some of the possibilities are

1. Weight below the normal, expected weight is 160 to 167 Ibs. A minimum weight is required which controls the hormonal level in the body. Cholesterol is converted into hormones and helps in ovulation and periods. Do not eat junk food just to increase your weight.

2. Do you have a sudden increase or decrease in weight?

3. Is your thyroid or Prolactin hormone abnormal?

4. Do you have any recent episodes of severe mental or physical stress? Significant happiness or depression or anxiety.

5. Do you have any recent use of hormone pills to alter the cycle?

What you can do is wait for a maximum of 14 days from the expected period date. Then repeat the urine pregnancy test. If this comes negative again, have the following hormone pills for periods.

Have any of the birth control pills, or contraceptive pills- have one tablet twice a day for ten days. (throw away the 21st pill) no matter what the cause is (except pregnancy) you will have periods within seven to ten days of the last pill. I hope I have clarified your query, do write back if you have any more queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
