Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have a pimple-like growth on the side edges of the backside of my tongue. I do not have much pain, but I can feel the roughness. And that is when I examined and found these pimple-like growths. They are mainly on the right side of the tongue. In addition, I have numbness in the tongue, but there is no pain while swallowing. What could it be?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
The location of the tongue you are referring to consists of many taste buds which are leaf-like and elongated. Sometimes hypertrophy of the taste buds can be seen. They present as swollen painless eruptions; however, they usually subside on their own. And, it seems that they are hypertrophies of the taste buds. They can be due to any stimuli, such as a tongue bite injury. So, do not worry about it. However, I would like to know a few answers,
However, I suggest you to have a dental check-up at your nearest dental office to rule out any possibility of pathogenic disease. In addition, I suggest you to maintain good oral hygiene.
I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up with the answers.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
I do not consume spicy foods. But, I changed my paste to a fluoride one as prescribed by my dentist. And, these swellings are not hard. But I can feel the roughness in my mouth, and there is mild pain when I touch them. What to do?
Kindly suggest a solution for this.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Since how many days are these swellings present? These seem to be hypertrophy of the taste buds. This can occur due to a tongue bite while chewing food. But these will subside on their own. However, I suggest you to visit the nearest dentist for an overall examination and to rule out any other problems.
I hope this has helped you.
Take care.
