What could be done to manage reduced mouth opening?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am unable to open my mouth with more than two fingers size. I used to consume pan masala about a year ago, but the symptoms started after I quit.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You are going through the problem because of pan masala, and once you have stopped, kindly do not start retaking it.

For now, take a multivitamin for 15 days, do warm water and salt mouth rinse at least four to five times a day, and just after mouth rinsing, do the mouth opening exercise slowly by inserting your fingers. Try opening your mouth with the help of finger insertion slowly. Doing this exercise after every mouth rinse may be uncomfortable initially, but gradually you will feel better. Drink plenty of water and maintain oral hygiene.

Kindly update me back after a week of following these instructions.

I hope my answer was helpful for you.

Thanks.
