Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had a viral fever two weeks ago and developed an ear infection on the third day of the fever. I also had a COVID-19 test, but it was negative. I consulted a general physician, and my TM looks normal. They did Rinne and Weber's test, and there is left lateralization in Weber's test. They said SNHL, but other than that, everything is normal. I have a constant high-frequency ringing and a wind sound in my right ear. I had 30 % hearing loss as a child and had adenoids and tonsils removed and a grommet placed in my right ear. They did not check my hearing after that, but now, I can hear sounds with less clarity than before, especially in a noisy environment. Also, I cannot understand what people are saying. Kindly help me find a solution.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Do not worry. It seems to be due to a spasm or motion loss of middle ear bones following colds. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below. 1. Take steam inhalation three times a day. 2. Take herbal tea twice a day. 3. Consume lukewarm water three times a day by swallowing gradually. 4. Take one tablet Vertin (Betahistine) 16 mg twice a day, one tablet Trinerve (multivitamin supplement) once a day, and one tablet Allegra (Fexofenadine) 120 mg once a day. Consume these tablets for five days. I recommend you consult with an ENT (Ear, nose, and throat) surgeon. I hope this has helped you.
