Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had ring-like patches all over my body for the past five months. I have itching all over my body including private parts and have used Terbinaforce-Plus NF for the last two months. But, it did not cure my problem. So, I have stopped taking it now.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your query and concern.

It seems you have tinea cruris et corporis. Tinea cruris is a fungal infection of the groin and corporis is of other body parts. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Do not keep the area wet at all. Use Clotrimazole powder frequently to keep it dry. Fungus always need humidity and wet areas to penetrate. So, just do not give it a chance by keeping it dry.

2. Avoid itching and do not scratch it. Change the undergarments regularly. Avoid excessive sweating and wet clothes.

3. Do not apply any general or steroid creams.

4. Do not stop the medicine once you are cured. Continue medicine for a long time to completely kill the fungal infection.

5. Check diabetes and thyroid. It is really recurrent even after proper treatment.

6. The fungal infection may not be responding to Fluconazole because of resistant development.

7. Take a tablet of Itraconazole (antifungal) twice a day and Ketoconazole cream twice for a local application for one month after consulting your specialist doctor.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
