Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My husband developed rashes on his back and below the armpits. Please check the attached images and kindly suggest a remedy.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is tinea corporis fungal infection (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). I suggest using Luliconazole cream (Luliact cream) twice daily in the morning and at night for one month, Miconazole ointment (Microgel) in the evening for one month and Clotrimazole dusting powder after bath for two months. Keep the area as dry as possible as moisture favors fungal growth. Avoid scratching and rubbing the lesions as they may cause secondary bacterial infection. Please give me some more details. Is he diabetic? Does he have liver or renal issues? Are the lesions spreading? Does he take hot water showers? Is your environment humid? Is there any chronic friction in those regions? Does anyone else in the family have similar complaints? Is he on any medication? Does he have a fever? Regards.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply. He is not diabetic. He does not have any liver or renal issues too. The lesions are on his back and under the armpits for the last two days and now it is developing around the neck area also. The weather here is hot and humid. His skin has lots of pores and is very prone to sweat. No family members have this complaint so far. Is this communicable infection? Please clarify.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Avoid sharing bedsheets, towels, soap, and combs as it can spread to the partner too. So take proper precautions. Wash his clothes separately. Wash clothes in hot water to kill fungal moulds. Press clothes regularly. I suggest him Tablet Terbinafine 250 mg once daily in afternoon after food for 15 days (if infection spreads), Tablet Levocetirizine at night after food for 10 days.(if itching present) and Dersil AF (Ketoconazole) body wash for bath or Ketoconazole soap (KZ soap) for one month. Avoid humid weather conditions. Avoid harsh soaps. Avoid scratching the lesions. Cut his nails short as nails can act as a reservoir of fungal infection. Maintain proper nail hygiene. Any other cosmetic concerns? Follow up after four weeks. Take care. Regards.
