Can a tight foreskin in balanoposthitis cause pain and infection?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have balanitis, phimosis, itching, and red spots for the past five days. My foreskin is tight and I am unable to pull it back, if it is forced it may injure. One year back, I had the same issue with pain and recovered from it. I take tablet Janumet 50 mg/ 500 mg twice daily, tablet Amaryl M 2 mg twice daily, tablet Dapaglyn 10 mg once daily for diabetes. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are suffering from candidal balanoposthitis, a fungal infection of foreskin and glans penis. It causes itching, red spots, swelling, cracks on foreskin and inability to retract it. I suggest you to use DK (Miconazole) gel twice daily for relief. If there is no response, consult a dermatologist for oral antifungals.
