Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 28-year-old female. I am seeking information to know more about the thyroid gland and its functions. Can you provide an overview of the role of the thyroid gland in the body and its impact on metabolism and overall health? What are the common types of thyroid disorders? What factors contribute to the development of thyroid disorders? Are there genetic predispositions, lifestyle elements, or environmental influences that individuals should be aware of for developing thyroid disorders? What are the treatment approaches for thyroid disorders? Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.
The thyroid hormone is the primary hormone to maintain metabolism. Low-level thyroid hormone causes sluggish metabolism. High thyroid levels can cause increased metabolism, weight loss, high pulse, high blood pressure, etc. Hypothyroidism is common in today's lifestyle, and lack of exercise, lack of proper sleep, consumption of processed foods, and lack of natural foods cause deficiency of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Some autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto's and Graves's disease can cause thyroid issues like hypo or hyperthyroidism.
To maintain good thyroid functions-
Sleep early.
Wake up early and go for a morning walk regularly till you sweat.
Do yoga and pranayam regularly.
Take salads and fruits more.
Take freshly prepared foods.
Avoid oily, spicy, and fast foods.
Use iodized salts or saindhav (rock salts) regularly for cooking.
I hope this will help you.
Thank you.
