Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have high thyroglobulin antibodies that were detected on a hormone panel, but all other thyroid levels were within the normal range.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
From the details you have shared, it appears that you have high thyroglobulin antibody levels and elevated cholesterol. High thyroglobulin antibodies indicate the presence of autoimmune agents capable of attacking the thyroid gland. Currently, your thyroid function seems normal, but under stress or weakened immunity, these antibodies can activate and potentially lead to thyroid diseases such as hypothyroidism.
Conditions associated with high thyroglobulin antibodies include Hashimoto's disease, which can cause hypothyroidism, thyroid gland damage from immune system activity, and autoimmune thyroid diseases. About one-fourth of thyroid cancer patients also have thyroglobulin antibodies. These antibodies are produced when the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid, indicating an autoimmune process. Consulting a physician for further evaluation is recommended.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
