Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I started Tezspire last month for my asthma, but after the first dose, I experienced a bad reaction, including dizziness, chest tightness, and a strange sensation in my throat. These symptoms subsided after a few hours, but my asthma remains uncontrolled. My pulmonologist advised me to wait and see, but I am concerned about whether this is a serious side effect. Should I proceed with the second dose, or is it risky? Additionally, are there other biological treatments that might work better for stubborn asthma? I would also appreciate any advice on improving asthma control at home.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to iCliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The reaction you experienced after taking Tezspire (Tezepelumab), including dizziness, chest tightness, and throat discomfort, could indicate an allergic reaction. Discussing these symptoms with your pulmonologist before proceeding with the second dose is important. They may suggest an alternative treatment or additional precautions. There are other biologics available for severe asthma, such as Dupixent (Dupilumab), Xolair (Omalizumab), and Fasenra (Benralizumab). Each works differently, and your pulmonologist can help determine the best option based on your specific condition.
To better control asthma at home, it is important to identify and minimize exposure to common triggers such as allergens, smoke, and strong odors. Taking prescribed medications as directed, including controller medications, can help keep symptoms under control. Monitoring symptoms regularly and keeping track of peak flow readings can help detect early signs of an asthma attack. Additionally, maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress can contribute to overall lung health and improve asthma management.
I hope this information is helpful. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
