How to overcome suicidal thoughts as I am already stressed and unhappy about my job?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 23 years old. I do not like the work I do when I see my seniors in the office. I always feel I do not want to become like them. I have a passion for teaching, but it pays very less, and my parents are opposing me from becoming a teacher. I do not know what to do. I feel I am always stressed and unhappy. I do not know what to do. Please guide me and even suicidal thoughts are coming.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your situation. It depends upon you what you want in your life. You are going to live your life so you should decide about it. Either choose money or passion. Sometimes we need to compromise and think about the longer term. Passion is the best thing, but you can not avoid money. If you are sure that you will get good money in the future because of your passion, then you must go for it. You will have job satisfaction, and you need to convince your parents about it. One more thing you can do. Keep continuing your job and start online teaching. Once you are confident enough about your online teaching career, then you can move on to the full-time teaching profession. Think about it and find a solution. Suicide is not the solution to the problem.

Thank you.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.
