How to treat strongyloidiasis in a pregnant woman?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from strongyloidiasis for six years and I have had no chance getting to meet a specialist. I am also 29 weeks pregnant and I am not doing well, my infection is extreme and I have started throwing up along with bad acid reflux and major urticarial rashes mainly on my head. How long will I be expected to live if I do not get to a specialist? I have taken the tablet Ivermectin on my own, but it has been unsuccessful. What do I do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I think your problem is the disseminated type of threadworms. How many tablets of Ivermectin did you take? Any other drugs did you take? Can you please upload the photos of rashes on your body for better understanding and treatment advice and prescription of drugs to control the problem. Also mention the laboratory facility in your locality. I will review your reply and prescribe further management.
