Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 22-year-old male and for the last week, I have had a stomach upset. At first, that is all it was, but for three days now blood has been coming out when I have stools. And today I am experiencing intense stomach pain that I cannot fall asleep. My body is shaking and I have a fever.
I have been seeing the same child doctor since I was born. Should I find an emergency clinic near me or drive to my local hospital? I am not sure what is wrong with me right now but I am pretty freaked out.
Kindly suggest.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Most likely you are having gastroenteritis with gastritis due to mild indigestion. Gut flora is the complex community of microorganisms that live in the digestive tracts of humans. The intestinal microflora is a complex ecosystem containing over 400 bacterial species. The flora is sparse in the stomach and upper intestine, but luxuriant in the lower bowel.
Toxins released by the bacteria and contaminated food destroys this flora of the gut and lead to various problems with the digestive system like indigestion and lead various problems with the digestive system including belching, bloating, increased gas formation, loose motion, or constipation.
I would suggest you start good-quality probiotics for a few days. Probiotic mechanisms of action include enhancement of the epithelial barrier, increased adhesion to the intestinal mucosa, concomitant inhibition of pathogen adhesion production of anti-microorganism substances, and modulation of the immune system. It contains a lot of bacteria, which form a part of normal gut flora. Hence it substitutes the flora lost during infection and improves digestion.
Take lots of prebiotics in food. Prebiotics are non-digestible food ingredients that beneficially affect the host by selectively stimulating the growth of a limited number of bacteria in the colon, thus improving digestion. Again the work is the same to stimulate the growth of the bacteria in gut flora. Hence overall both of them help restore the lost gut flora.
Pantoprozole should also be taken for a few days for overall symptoms relief. It will take three to five days for things to get better. To cut it short suggest taking any over-the-counter probiotics and a tablet of Pantoprazole 40 mg will provide you with symptomatic relief. Consult a physician and get a prescription, get a stool routine, and microscopy test done if there is an infection a short-term course of antibiotics would also be given.
Along with it, some general measures which will help you more include eating plentiful fresh oranges and pears. Add a lot of vegetables and fruits to your diet. Try to eat vegetables. Take a lot of yogurt along with food. Take two teaspoons of Isphagula husk with 200 to 300 ml of water once while going to bed every day. Avoid cold milk and avoid junk food (no burger or pizza even if it is vegetarian). Avoid beverages, alcohol, soft drinks, and carbonated drinks.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
