This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have this stomach pain 8/10 scale of pain, for about 4 days. When I push my tummy, it is painful. I am so gassy, I fart alot and whenever I poop I feel that I did not expel it properly. In the first 2 days I pooped watery but in 3rd and 4th day the texture is okay but my stomach is still in pain. When I eat, I feel the pain or grinding feeling on my tummy. Prior to this 4 days painful stomach for about 1 month I experienced heartburn, gas, stomach pain at 3/10 scale of pain. I did not drink any medications. What is this?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Well, given only 4 days long history of abdominal pain and gases suggests you probably have something in diet which has caused you this. For example, excessive of salads, milk, beans, certain cereals, rice, barley, rye, and alcohol, these all can cause increased gas production within the bowel and hence feeling of excessive burping and farting. I suggest you consider eliminating particular diets which might be causing this trouble to your recent onset of symptoms.

Secondly, for stomach pain you can use capsule Esmoprazole 40 mg (protonpump inhibitor) half hour before meals. If you symptoms does not improve by day or two, I would consider giving you some antibiotic which would treat the infection of the bowel-a possible second underlying cause for your recent onset symptoms. I hope your stomach pain will go away with Esmoprazole.
