Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had unprotected intercourse with my partner this month. Since yesterday (five days after intercourse), she has had frequent lower abdominal pain. Her last period was at the end of the previous month. Are these symptoms of pregnancy? What medicine should she intake?
Kindly advice.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
According to your statement, did her periods start or end that day?
If periods ended by the end of last month and she has regular cycles of 28 to 30 days and had intercourse this month, then chances of pregnancy are low. Likewise, if the periods started in the mid of the last month and ended after four days, the chances of your partner getting pregnant are also less. And the symptoms, such as lower abdominal pain, are usually associated with periods rather than pregnancy. This also makes pregnancy less likely. But to be sure, she can undergo a urine dipstick test, a relatively cheap kit commonly known as a urine stick, pregnancy kit, or UPT (urine pregnancy test). The test can be done after a few days of last month's period date.
Pregnancy is less likely if it is negative, your pain goes away, or periods start.
I hope this was helpful.
