Hello doctor,
I am suffering from a strong cough due to allergic sinusitis. I am taking expectorant syrup. I suffered from the same problem a long back and took an allergy shot at that time. But this time, I am taking medicine because I have to take the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in two days. Can I take the vaccine while taking this medicine?

Ideally, it would be best to wait for the cough to resolve before taking the vaccine. Not that vaccine and cough drugs will interact. But the reason is that the vaccine can also cause a cough sometimes, and your cough might worsen even during treatment. So, kindly wait a week, let your cough go away, and then take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Secondly, if you have an allergic cough that does not respond to anti-allergic medications, you should take a Formoterol inhaler in the nose twice daily. Your symptoms will go away in a week, and you will be completely fine.
