What could be the reason for pain in the spine and shoulders?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from severe spine pain and shoulder pain. At normal times, I do not have pain, but while riding bikes, sitting in front of computers, and standing with both hands on my backside, I get severe pain in my spine and shoulder. I consulted an ortho doctor, and after a few examinations and an X-ray, he told me there was swelling at my back between my spine and shoulder. I took treatment, and the pain has gone. However, nowadays, the pain has started again, and the pain's intensity is greater than previously. I request you, please tell me the reason for the pain and my problem.

I have no documents with me (no X-ray copy and no medical documents). Please help me with the answer.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From your description and with no examination findings and reports, I can only be general and not specific. Also, I do not know your age. However, I think you have cervical spondylitis and myofascial pain from long hours of poor posture and working on the desk and computers.

I need X-rays of the cervical spine before MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), which would be needed to rule out a disc problem.

Do you have any weakness in the arms or legs?

Do you have tingling in the arms or legs?

Send me n more details for a more specific answer.

Thank you.
