Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from shortness of breath after vaping e-cigarette. I consulted doctors and they said my lungs are fine. I read on the internet that a lot of people suffering with the same. When I reduce my e-cigarette I feel better.

Also, I had FESS surgery and SMR before two weeks. My current medication is nasal spray Propolis. Is my problem related to acid reflux? Please explain me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. After carefully reviewing your case, it is clear that the issues you are experiencing are directly related to the use of e-cigarettes. The chemicals in e-cigarette are very dangerous for the lungs and airways, leading to the narrowing of small airways and resulting in shortness of breath. Additionally, acid reflux is one of the aggravating factors for shortness of breath. Stomach acid regurgitation irritates the upper respiratory tract, triggering an allergic reaction that contributes to breathlessness. Many patients have encountered similar problems, and it is essential for you to consult with a local physician who can guide you on gradually quitting e-cigarettes based on your individual circumstances. Once you cease using e-cigarettes, the healing process of your respiratory tract mucosa will begin, and over a period of months to years (depending on the duration of cigarette smoking or vaping), you can expect improvements in your respiratory health.
