Can kissing a sex worker but not having physical intimacy lead to sexually transmitted diseases?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a breakup recently, and to overcome my frustration, I went to a sex worker. However, I did not have sex but had deep kissing, and then I could not go further and stopped. I also had ejaculated before going to the sex worker. But after 11 days, I have a fever, a small mouth ulcer, and a bit of cough. I usually develop mouth ulcers when I catch a cold. Could this be a symptom of something serious? I only fingered and deeply kissed the girl. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

If we consider the risk of transmission of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) or any other serious STD (sexually transmitted disease), then kissing falls in minimal or no risk. HIV cannot survive in saliva, so even deep long kissing does not have any risk of transmission. If you had bleeding gums or active oral lesions and she also has oral lesions, then the theoretical risk is there, but that too is negligible. Ejaculation on hands also has no or rare risk. So remain relaxed, and avoid thinking about this.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
