Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 35-year-old male who is planning for a second baby. However, I have noticed a significant decrease in my interest in sex lately. I find myself lacking the desire for sex and not feeling attracted to my partner. I believe I may be experiencing low libido. I would appreciate some guidance on how to improve my libido and address this issue.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern regarding low libido and the potential reasons behind it. Several factors can contribute to low libido, and it is important to consider them for diagnosis and treatment. Here are some possible causes:
Infections: It would be beneficial to check for urinary tract infections by conducting a urine complete examination and performing a pelvic ultrasound to identify any underlying infection.
Diabetes and hypertension: Ensure that your blood pressure and blood sugar levels are well controlled. If you are already on medication for these conditions, please provide the names for further evaluation.
Hormonal imbalances: Low testosterone, thyroid disorders (low thyroid hormone levels), and high prolactin levels can impact libido. It would be advisable to assess your thyroid function (TFT), prolactin levels, and testosterone levels.
Obesity: Regular exercise and yoga can help manage obesity, which can contribute to low libido.
High cholesterol: Assess your lipid profile to determine cholesterol levels and consider incorporating regular exercise into your routine.
Chronic diseases or medications: If you have any chronic illnesses or are taking long-term medications, please provide further details as they could potentially affect libido.
Anxiety: Psychological factors such as anxiety can also contribute to libido issues.
To further investigate the possible causes and determine appropriate treatment, the following tests are recommended: pelvic ultrasound (USG Pelvis) to rule out pelvic infections, thyroid function tests (Free T3, T4, TSH), lipid profile to assess cholesterol levels, and monitoring blood pressure and random blood sugar levels (RBS).
In the meantime, as a temporary solution, you may consider using Tablet Mildfil 5 mg twice a day. However, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new medication.
Please provide additional details regarding the mentioned reasons so that we can work together to identify the underlying cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
I hope this answer helped you,
Thank you.
