Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 39 years old and started using compounded Semaglutide for weight loss three months ago. I have lost 25 pounds, but I have noticed a loss of muscle mass despite engaging in strength training. I am wondering if semaglutide is known to contribute to muscle loss or if I may not be consuming enough protein.
Additionally, I have been experiencing increased fatigue during my workouts. Could this be related to the way the medication affects blood sugar levels or hydration?
Lastly, I have read that some compounded versions of semaglutide may not be as stable as the FDA-approved formulations. How can I ensure that my dosage is accurate?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Semaglutide can cause significant weight loss, and with that, some muscle loss may also occur. Additionally, it can lower blood sugar levels, which may lead to hypoglycemia, potentially explaining the fatigue you are experiencing. This is a common effect, and your body may adjust over time.
I generally prefer FDA-approved Semaglutide over compounded versions, as the latter are experimental and may have inconsistencies. However, since your healthcare professional has advised its use, it is best to follow their guidance. If the fatigue or muscle loss persists, you should consult your doctor to reassess your treatment plan.
To help preserve muscle mass and manage fatigue, focus on resistance training, consume adequate lean protein, and incorporate more strength-based exercises into your routine.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
