Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I underwent cyst removal surgery on the right side of my neck. Unfortunately, I started having multiple seizures attack in a day after the cyst removal surgery. I consulted a neurosurgeon, but he did not solve my problem. What should I do? What could be the reason for my multiple seizures? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query. I understand your concern. Kindly share your USG (ultrasound scan) reports of the neck. Usually, neck surgeries are nowhere concerned with seizures. Also, was your MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain done? I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your reply. There is a biopsy report of neck surgery performed. MRI was done after having seizures.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I do understand there was a cyst removed. But what was the cyst? Usually, neck swelling excision would have been performed based on an ultrasound report. Also, kindly share your MRI reports. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been having seizures for the past six months and have been taking medications. My surgery was done last year because my neck's right side was swollen. The surgery was done using rays therapy. After six months, I had my first seizure attack. I had stiffness in my mouth and arms on my right side, which lasted up to 10 to 15 minutes.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I reviewed your reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The reports of your neck swelling suggest a fibrofatty pathology; most likely, it would be a lipoma. The excision of this cyst will not cause anything that can induce seizures. The MRI of your brain is normal, so it rules out any intracranial pathology, which can induce a seizure. The EEG (electroencephalogram) reports also claim to be normal with no evidence of seizures. Therefore, the seizure-like episodes that you are facing are functional. Have you consulted a psychiatrist? I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
