Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

A month ago, I used hair removal cream on my bikini line. My skin got irritated. I have been experiencing redness and itchiness on that area and my bikini line darkened really bad. What can I do to stop the irritation and lighten that area?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen the photo you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity), and it does look a lot inflamed. Please do not irritate or scratch the area for a few days. To reduce the inflammation you can use a steroidal cream and also take a short course of antibiotics to prevent further infection. Fusibet cream (Fusidic acid and Betamethasone) applied once or twice daily as tolerated. Tablet Cefadroxil 500 mg twice daily for 5 days, tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once daily for 5 days, tablet Paracetamol 500 mg (anti-inflammatory) twice daily until the inflammation reduces, tablet Cetirizine 10 mg (if itching present) once in the night for 5 days. Kindly review again after 5 days after completion of the treatment. Please follow these measures: Refrain from using any other products during treatment period, avoid going out in the sun, wear loose clothes to allow air circulation. Treatment of the dark areas will be given after the present inflammation has completely subsided. Kindly review after five days
