This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

As a 34-year-old male working night shifts for the past five years without receiving a promotion. I am experiencing significant psychological stress. I am concerned about the impact of this stress on my mental health. Can you offer guidance on managing psychological stress in the workplace, and what steps can I take to protect and improve my mental well-being? Are there specific relaxation techniques you would recommend for me?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your situation and your problem. You have a lot of trouble in the future due to your night duty. If you can find another job then you must try to change. If you do not get a promotion after five years, then you need a work-life balance to live a healthy life. You should try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help you.

  1. Exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes, such as going for a walk.
  2. Practice meditation for 20 minutes daily. Sit in a comfortable position and concentrate on normal breathing.
  3. Eat healthy, home-cooked meals and avoid junk food.
  4. Drink enough water.
  5. Spend quality time with friends and family daily.
  6. Engage in creative hobbies like reading, writing journals, painting, drawing, or learning new skills, languages, or musical instruments.
  7. Get enough sleep, ideally seven to eight hours per night.
  8. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  9. Be bold and confident.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
