Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 52-year-old female. Since four months, I am having rashes all over my body. My doctor suggested that it could be psoriasis or lichen planus. Can you please help me know what the condition is and the available treatment options? Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Both lichen planus and psoriasis come under papulosquamous disorders. I suggest you to undergo a skin biopsy test for confirmation. Many treatment options are available for both conditions. Immunomodulator therapy for three months gives the best results. I hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further queries. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your answer. My doctor prescribed cream Clobetasol, cream Xerolys 5, and tablet Cetirizine. However, I did not have an improvement in my condition. Also, when I searched on the internet about lichen planus, I found that it affects the mouth. However, I do not have any mouth lesions. In my place, they prescribe tablet Methotrexate for psoriasis. Can you please let me know about the immunomodulation therapy? Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
There are variations in the presentation of psoriasis and lichen planus; lichen planus need not always involve the oral cavity. Itching is subjective and is not a criterion for diagnosis. Tablet Methotrexate and tablet Cyclosporine are the immunomodulators that are commonly used. I hope this helps. Kindly get back in case of further doubts. Thank you.
