Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My father has recently been diagnosed with an enlarged prostrate gland. I am attaching the report. What to do?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your father's report (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).
A large prostate may require surgery (preferred over medical management in such cases). PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is also very high. The benign causes such as pus cells in urine analysis or urinary retention can increase PSA other than cancer prostate. So, I suggest he repeats the PSA test after ten days. If the test result shows persistently high values, then I suggest he should go for a prostate biopsy. Do not worry. Further course of treatment will be determined depending on the reports.
I hope this helps.
Thanks and regards.
