Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old man, and I am suffering from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. I was addicted to masturbation since the age of 14. Can it be the reason for my problems?

Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern.

Firstly, I would like to inform you that masturbation does not cause any physical or sexual problems. An erection problem occurs most commonly due to the following reasons,

  1. Stress or anxiety.
  2. However, there are other causes such as hormonal disturbance that may cause erection and ejaculation issues. To exclude them I suggest you undergo some blood tests to check the levels of hemoglobin, total count and differential count, post-prandial glucose levels, prolactin, thyroid stimulating hormone, and testosterone levels. Most often hormonal imbalance is a chronic problem for which you have to take medicines periodically.
  3. Smoking.
  4. Issues with blood pressure.
  5. If you are taking any medicine or nutritional supplement on a regular basis, then its side effects may also cause premature ejaculation.

To relieve your issue with erection and ejaculation, I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below,

  1. Relax and do exercise to relieve stress or anxiety.
  2. Quit smoking if you have the habit of smoking.
  3. Check your blood pressure and if the readings are high or low, then I suggest you to consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.
  4. Also, you can do exercises to control ejaculation. You can learn to control ejaculation by doing this exercise which involves contracting your muscles at the end of urination for a few seconds then releasing. Repeat this several times daily.
  5. Another method is the stop-start technique. In this method when you feel that you are going to ejaculate, stop the sexual stimulation and divert your mind. This will inhibit ejaculation, and after some time start the sexual stimulation again and repeat the procedure. Over a few months, you can gradually increase your ejaculation time with these two exercises.

I hope this has helped you.

Please follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
