Is VBAC possible after a Cesarean section?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My elder son is 1.9 years old, and I am 37 weeks pregnant. My first delivery was CS. I had no complications during my first pregnancy, but when I had contractions a day before my due date, the baby's heart rate was going low, so I had a CS. So now can I try VBAC?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition. Do not worry I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms, no do not try vaginal delivery. You will be at a higher risk of uterine rupture and severe bleeding, which may be fatal. Trial by scar after cesarean section should be at least a three-year gap but I see your last first baby is above one year. So go ahead, and have another cesarean section with your current pregnancy

We can schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone or video consultation.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
