Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My son is four years old, and he is good at all other things. He is perfectly fine. He will also use the toilet to urinate, flush, and wash himself. But for the toilet issue, he is not telling anyone, and it was identified by us only by smell. He is doing it wherever he is. I know scolding is not the solution. How can I make him behave properly?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
You should try to follow the guidelines mentioned below to help your child:
1. Positive reinforcement: Praise him when he uses the toilet correctly, even if it is just a small step in the right direction.
2. Consistency: Establish a regular toilet schedule to help him get into a routine.
3. Make it fun: Consider using incentives like stickers or a reward chart for each successful toilet visit.
4. Open communication: Encourage him to talk about any discomfort or concerns he might have about using the toilet for bowel movements.
5. Modeling behavior: Show him how you use the toilet and talk about how it is a normal part of everyone's day.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards.
