Is it concerning to have a spot after fat grafting to the chin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a fat graft added to the chin, and I am very satisfied with the result. However, yesterday, after four days of my surgery, I hit my lower chin by accident, and now there is a small red, tender spot there. Can it be that I have ruined some of the surgery, or will it be fine?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. Did you notice any laceration or wound in the area? Is it just a spot, or is there any discharge from the area as well? It is unlikely that a mild trauma with a bruise will affect the final results of the fat grafting procedure to your chin. However, any infection in the surgical area can sometimes affect. Please send me a photograph of the area if possible.

Thank you.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

It is just a spot. There is no discharge or laceration from the area. The area is just red and a little tender. I have attached the photos.

Looking forward to your answer.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for sending the photos (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). I have reviewed them, and it looks like a small bruise where you hit your chin. I can reassure you again that it is unlikely that it would have any effect on the final results of the surgery.

I hope it helps you.

Thank you.
