Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I left the dentist at 3:45 after getting a big top right molar pulled. It is still bleeding at 6:30. Is that fine?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Yes, it is normal. Sometimes it takes 24 hours to get bleeding arrested. Just take a big pack of cotton, place it in the socket, and bite it very tightly. Keep it in this position for like 2 to 3 hours. Do not check in between. After it, remove and then have some icecreams or take a cube of ice, crush it and rub over the area or put on cotton and place cotton pack again after taking medicines, meal, etc., for next 3 to 4 hours. Do not spit saliva in between but swallow it as it will be blood free as blood will be absorbed in the cotton pack, will not be taken in. Talk less. Keep it cold and take soft diet for a day.
Hopefully, bleeding will stop in a day. Do not use straw for juices, get it in the glass to drink, make your facial muscles rest as much as you can. And then after 24 hours start saline water mouth rinses five times a day for two weeks. It is mandatory.
