What is the treatment for microscopic polyangiitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am very distressed as my friend has recently been diagnosed with microscopic polyangiitis. The doctor mentioned something about vasculitis and some cytoplasmic antibodies. Can you please help me understand what the right treatment approach is? I am very worried about him. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Microscopic polyangiitis is an autoimmune disease, and that is why they are talking about monoclonal antibody treatment. As you know, autoimmune diseases are caused when our system starts producing antibodies or destroying antibodies. So it is surprising that we need to give antibodies that resemble our immune system’s antibodies. Cytoplasmic or monoclonal antibodies resemble the same antibodies. That is why it helps in the treatment of any autoimmune disease. So you can go for this treatment.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.
