Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
The vaccination for my 2-month-old daughter is scheduled for tomorrow. I am confused about the PCV vaccine. Some immunization cards say PCV2 has to be given in two months, and some say it should be given in three months. My second question is regarding OPV2 drops.
Kindly guide me on an appropriate schedule for the PCV vaccine and OPV drops.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
1. I assume you are asking about the Pneumococcal vaccine ( PCV) schedule.
2. It is recommended at six weeks PCV1 (1.5 months), 10 Weeks PCV2 (2.5 months ), 14 weeks PCV3 (3.5 months), and a booster dose at 15 months (total of four shots).
3. OPV is also offered as OPV (zero doses) at birth and at six weeks OPV1, 10 Weeks OPV2, 14 weeks OPV3, and OPV Booster at 15 months.
Now IPV (injectable Polio vaccine has been introduced at six, ten, and 14 weeks).
Feel free to connect me if you have any other concerns.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply,
After giving the vaccine, how should the baby be treated? I have SUMO drops. What should be the dosage of it? Are there any medicines? Or anything which should be taken care of?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
1. Post-vaccination fever and pain at the vaccine site are common.
2. You can give fever medicine of Paracetamol 15 mg per kg per dose. Usually, 1.5 to 2 ml.
3. At the injection site, apply ice two to three times.
Feel free to connect me if you have any other concerns.
Happy to serve you.
