Why am I having red patch below the neck?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a red color patch just below my neck. It just appeared a few weeks back. It comes and goes away. This time it looks a little prominent. It does not itch or bother me. I have attached photos for your reference.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is pityriasis versicolor (a type of fungal infection). Kindly follow the prescription.

1. Apply Clotrimazole lotion over the area BD for two weeks.

2. Maintain hygiene of the area.

3. Wash with mild soap and water.

4. Avoid Dettol and other irritants.

You will get better.

Thank you.
