Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have this skin condition called pityriasis versicolor. My regular dermatologist prescribes a single dose of Fluconazole 450 mg and it recurs after a few weeks or months. Could you suggest something better to me like a skin cream?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have seen your query. I suggest applying topical Clotrimazole cream twice daily and using 2 percent Ketoconazole shampoo once daily for three consecutive days per week until the lesions from pityriasis versicolor clear.
Other oral antifungals in case of relapse are Ketoconazole tablet 400 mg once per month or Itraconazole 400 mg once a month for six months can cure the disease. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines with their consent.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.
Thank you.
