This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a white patch on my face. It was initially very pale, but when I apply Fluticasone, it becomes more pronounced and appears white. Additionally, my cheeks feel rough and are slightly depigmented.

Could you please help?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

How long it has been there? What are the symptoms of it? Any other area affected? Any other family members affected? Any history of hypertension? Diabetes mellitus? Thyroid disorder? Any known drug reaction?

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your quick response.

It has been there for 15 days. No thyroid and no hypertension. I usually get hypopigmentation on my face but that goes away by taking vitamin supplements. It is only on one side. I have jaundice recently after that I see these spots and they seem to be pale but become white when I apply Fluticasone. No other family member has white spots.

Kindly assist.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It seems to be consistent with Pityriasis Alba. You can start the following treatment and check back with me in one month:

  1. Apply emollient cream over the entire face three times a day.
  2. Apply Tacrolimus ointment once at night to the white spot, using a very small amount.
  3. Start taking Vitamin A capsules.
  4. Never let your face dry out. After washing your face, apply a moisturizer immediately.
  5. Take Itraconazole 100 mg twice daily for ten days.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reach out if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
