How to treat phimosis with medications?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My penis has a tight foreskin. I can expose the head by pulling back the foreskin when my penis is not erect. However, erecting it, I can only partially pull the foreskin. The issue has always been there, but I had no idea it was unusual. When erect, I cannot completely pull my foreskin back. I feel discomfort when I try to stretch it forcefully. It eventually causes pain. I am not taking any medications and have no previous medical records of this issue.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The condition you are experiencing is known as phimosis. Phimosis affects uncircumcised males. It is a condition in which the penis foreskin does not pull back because it has become adhered to the glans penis. As a result, secretions accumulate under the foreskin, causing symptoms such as pain, itching, urine infection, and glans penis inflammation.

Furthermore, because the foreskin is adherent, the patient experiences discomfort and pain when attempting to pull it back. If left untreated, this condition can progress to penile cancer. To get rid of this condition, you must undergo circumcision right away. I recommend you consult a urologist (a specialist who diagnoses and treats diseases of the urinary tract in both men and women) about circumcision.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
