How long does it take for the petechiae in my legs, arms and abdomen to resolve?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor

I am suffering from recurring petechiae with rash, headache, fatigue, and intermittent upper stomach pain. I do not have a fever and my CBC, C-protein, and ANA are negative. I am not on any medication. Steroid shots were given to me and the rash reduced however the petechiae is still there on my legs abdomen and arms.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. I need to ask a few questions.

  1. Is it itchy?
  2. Does it disappear when you put a finger pressure and reappear right after lifting the finger?
  3. Do you smoke?
  4. Any flu-like symptoms recently?
  5. I would suggest discussing and getting antineutrophilic cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and C-reactive protein which are nonspecific but very sensitive means that if negative we can almost rule out autoimmune vasculitis and also get HCV (hepatitis C virus) and HBV (hepatitis B virus) testing, I will rule out autoimmune vasculitis and cryoglobulinemia.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
