Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Some more questions to come to the diagnosis. Are these spots painless? Did these appear first on glans and then on the shaft? Do you have a mild fever, headache, myalgias? Any discharge from these lesions? Lesions present anywhere else e.g. mouth lips? Are you on any kind of medication?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The spots were not painless. They appeared on the same day on glans and then on the shaft. No fever, no headache, no myalgias. No discharge from the lesions. No lesions on the mouth lips. I only took Bactroban ointment twice per day for a week and the lesions left after eight to nine days. I had these lesions 10- 12 days after the oral sex.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, the lesion appears to be herpes. You should look for lesions in your partner also (examine oral mucosa) if possible so that she also should know if suffering for her betterment. Do blood tests to confirm ELISA for HSV1 and HSV2 (herpes simplexvirus). If lesions have already disappeared then you can wait to take any medication. This is a recurrent disease so if lesion reappear then start. Take tablet Acyclovir 400 mg tid for five days, or Valacyclovir 500 mg bid for three days. Side effect of Acyclovir is nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fluid retention, hair loss, and confusion. I recommended you to get blood investigation done before starting anything.
