This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter thinks she found a worm in her stool. She sent a picture. She is 17 years old and not taking any medications. She had cryptosporidium when she was seven years old but got treated. She had been consuming sushi and raw fish. There are no other symptoms.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

She probably has taken something wrong. She needs treatment, but she will be fine. Besides, I wonder if she has worms, your whole family is at risk for worm infestation. At times this worm infestation remains asymptomatic. Therefore, I suggest that all family members should take the following medicines at the same time.

  • Tablet Mebendazole (antibiotic) - 100 mg - morning and night for three days after the meal.

If symptoms persist, repeat the course after one week.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

She is with her cousin, who is two months old. Is he at high risk?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

He can be at risk if she remains untreated. You need to keep observing the kid. If he develops symptoms like abdominal pain or perianal itching, I suggest giving him,

Syrup Mebendazole (antihelmintics) for three days in the morning and night. Suppose there are no symptoms, no need to treat.
