Can pap smear cause vaginal infection?

Hi doctor,
I got a regular pap smear recently and the following day I began to have pain and irritation on one side of my vagina lip. I figured it was because of the pap smear. That night I had to sleep without underwear and keep my legs open to avoid any pain and friction. The next day I investigated and saw something that looks like a boil on one side of my vagina's outer lip. It has been three days and I am and I am still unable to walk with my legs together. This has never happened before. Could I have picked up something if the speculum was unsterilized or if the nurse did not put on clean gloves before the exam?
Please advise.

I understand your concern.
It seems to be due to folliculitis during the procedure. As sterile gloves, speculum disposable is used nowadays so there is no chance of getting an infection in such a way.
- Clean the vagina with vaginal wash regularly.
- Apply betadine cream locally.
- Take tablet Pan (Pantaprazole) 40 mg once per day on empty stomach.
- Tablet Zerodol sp (Aceclofenac) one twice a day.
- Tablet Clavam (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg twice a day.
