Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am having heart palpitations and a corresponding drop in my ECG reading. I have also been diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Should I head to a hospital or is this not something to worry about? I am currently on Bupropion, Glycopyrrolate, Atorvastatin, Diclofenac, Finasteride, and Prilosec.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
There are ventricular ectopics in your ECG (electrocardiogram) (attachment removed to protect patient identity). These are usually benign, but considering your history of WPW, it is better to visit the hospital and get medications prescribed to suppress these, as these can precipitate arrhythmias. Do your symptoms correlate with the initiation of Bupropion and Glycopyrrolate, as these may precipitate the symptoms. Discuss with your treating doctor and avoid it if not necessary. Also, too much coffee, alcohol, sleep or gastric disturbances, smoking, etc., may precipitate these. So try to avoid these scenarios, if applicable. I hope this helps.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
I take my medications in the morning, so this is not a direct result. But I will make an appointment with my cardiologist if these are fairly benign. I started feeling a little better. They are much farther apart, and the anxiety feeling that accompanies it is much lower. What should I look out for that would be cause for immediate concern?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Now the concern is that these ectopics are degenerating into tachyarrhythmias, where one would have a very fast heart rate, palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath. So you will certainly get symptoms with such arrhythmia. If you get such symptoms, you will have to rush to the ER or obtain home ECG to confirm.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
