What can be the reason for painful urination?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have pain while urinating, blood in urine, lower abdominal cramp, and fever. I think my UTI is back. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing and I understand your concern. Yes mam actually it can be case of UTI (urinary tract infection) or glomerulonephritis. So I would suggest you to do urine culture and routine test , KFT (kidney function test), CBC (complete blood count), and ultrasound examination of the abdomen done. Blood in urine always needs medical attention. To prevent UTI, drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Please tell me the following:

1) From when do you have these symptoms?

2) Are you allergic to any antibiotics?

3) Are you taking any medicine currently?

Please let me know so I can suggest you medicine accordingly.

Thank you.
