Can ovarian torsion cause abdominal pain and pelvic pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 17-year-old female; I want to know if this is an Ovarian Torsion. It began three days before my current period. Extreme pain in my abdomen and pelvic areas, especially my left pelvis. The pain radiates to my legs and knees, which makes it difficult to walk or sit for long. Right now, I have taken some Buscopan tablets. Could you please help me with this?

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I believe you have developed an endometriosis. I do not think you have any ovarian torsion, as this affects only one side of the body. So, I believe you have endometriosis based on your clinical remarks. Please do a pelvic scan and reply to me with the result. Also, take two tablets of Danazol (Danocrine) 200mg twice for two weeks and two tablets of Celecoxib (Celebrex) 200mg twice daily for two weeks and discontinue Ibuprofen.

I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.

Thank you.
