What could be the reason for frequent nosebleeds?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old and have been having frequent nosebleeds. It appeared first when I was 7 years old after I hit my head on a wall.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Thank you for your query.

It is like that when nasal bleeding occurs some blood tickles backward, and when you try to spite out the sputum is also stained with blood. It is normal, not like it occurs in the aged or young. When nasal bleeding occurs put two pillows under the shoulders and head in the lower position, and put water on the head. Put a cotton plug lightly in the nostrils to stop bleeding. Nose and nasal mucosa are highly vascular and capillaries are very thin-walled. If bleeding starts, a lot of blood is lost. In some cases, doctors have to put a plug in both nostrils which are kept for two to three days even in kids. Eat citrus fruits like lemon, orange, kiwi, gooseberry, etc.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
