Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am currently breastfeeding and have tried a Norethisterone and Letrozole treatment to try and conceive my second baby, as I had medicine left over. I accidentally took Norethisterone consecutively for five days and not seven, and on the second day of my period, I started my five-day treatment of Letrozole for ovulation. It was five weeks ago. I have had no period and am not pregnant. Did I mess it up with the five days and not seven of Norethisterone, or could my breastfeeding get affected by the hormones?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
No, it would not affect your breastfeeding, and nor will it affect your health. Sometimes periods might get delayed by one or two weeks because of some stress or recent illness. But I would suggest keeping at least three years gap between two babies, as our body needs recovery time. How many months is your child? Also, it is quite difficult to get pregnant during breastfeeding, as our body secretes the hormone prolactin, which interferes with fertility.
Hope this information helps you.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Thank you.
