Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter is 2.5-year-old and weighs 24.25 lbs. For the last four days, she has not eaten anything, vomited irregularly, and felt nauseated. If I want to feed her anything, she feels nauseated. Also, she is constipated as she is not eating anything. I am giving her medications as prescribed by the pediatrician, including Aciloc syrup, O2 antibiotic, and Ondem syrup, but with no relief. Kindly suggest a treatment.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The symptoms you mentioned are because of constipation. I would suggest you increase the child's water intake and start a laxative Duphalac (Lactulose, Galactose, Tagatose, and Fructose) syrup of 5 ml twice a day for ten days. You can also use Dulcolax (Bisacodyl) one suppository as and when required. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medications with their consent. Give the child a soft diet that she likes as per need. Add more fruits and vegetables to the diet. Continue ongoing medications. Encourage the child to pass stools and make the child sit on the toilet seat but do not force her. Reassure her that this problem will go away after using medicines and diet.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Is she vomiting due to constipation? Her doctor said it was acidity, but I do not think it is just acidity. Do I have to go for any tests? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The symptoms are not just acidity symptoms. However, continue Ondem (Ondansetron).

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

She is not willing to eat anything. In that case, how will constipation be cured? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If the child is lethargic, dehydrated, and refuses to eat, it is advisable to get the child evaluated. The child may not want to eat anything due to fear. You are responsible for making the child pass stools and then reassuring the child so that she starts eating. I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
