Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I hit my head yesterday, and now the day after I have a nose blood. I have not experienced any other symptoms like dizziness. Should I go to the doctor? kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
The symptoms of head injuries and concussions can sometimes be very difficult to self-perceive due to something called loss of self-criticism which can also be caused by a head injury itself. Some of the other neurological signs that can develop after a head injury can only be picked up if they are examined for by a physician. Trying to look for elicit these signs in oneself is not recommended at all. The fact that you are able to seek advice in a written form clearly and coherently is against a severe head injury. But the fact that the episode of epistaxis (nose bleed) had you concerned, probably means that you felt the head collision was significant enough to have caused injury. Very rarely a specified kind of intracranial hematoma (bleeding inside the skull) can bleed slowly between two layers to cause very few symptoms initially and then suddenly lead to decompensation. It is probably unlikely in your case, but it would still be recommended that you are neurologically examined by your physician, and if he picks up any signs or symptoms a CT(computed tomography) brain could quickly confirm and rule out pathology. I hope I have answered all your doubts.
Thank you.
