How can recurrent fungal nail infections be managed?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have nail fungus. I was treated with oral Flucoz for four months, but the fungus recurred. What should I do? It started with my toenail. Now, my small nail is affected.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Sir, you need to retake the medicine at least for two months and then see because this treatment takes more time than oral anti-fungal medicine. And along with that, take Tablet Zincovit (multivitamin)1 mg before sleeping for 15 days. Sometimes vitamin deficiency causes such whiteness that is why Zincovit will help. Is there any itching or hardness in the nail? What dosage of tablet Flucon (Fluconazole) did you take? Please let me know. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the response.

There is no itching. The white powder alone is coming off. I took one tablet of Fluconazole 150 mg per week. What dose should I continue to take? And I am taking multivitamin tablets daily.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please continue the same dosage of tablet Fluconazole 150 mg once a week for three weeks and tablet Zincovit once a day at night for 15 days. Update me after 15 days. If the problem continues, then we will go for further treatment. If anything else, let me know. Thank you.
