Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have taken seven Primolut tablets last month for delaying periods. After three days of stopping those tablets I got periods but this month it is almost 14 days delayed. Still, I did not get my periods. I have involved in sex before four days of periods date. Is there any chance of getting pregnant? Please suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Check if you have taken or recently stopped any medications or hormones, had an illness, strict diet or strenuous exercise, thyroid abnormalities all can delay periods. Wait for a week and have serum beta hCG (blood pregnancy test) to clear pregnancy status. Near menses less fertile period actually, so fewer chances of pregnancy but you have irregular cycles now so better do blood pregnancy test. If the test comes negative have the same course of Primolut (Norethisterone) to have bleeding I would recommend 10 mg twice daily for five days and wait for 1 to 2 weeks for bleeding. On day two of bleeding have all blood test like serum testosterone, serum progesterone, serum prolactin, serum insulin, thyroid function test, LH (luteinizing hormone) and FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) ratio. Transvaginal scan in the day outside periods. Collect all laboratory reports and discuss here or with your gynecologist. Have a check on abnormal hair growth those could be signs of PCOS. Have exercise to have normal BMI, healthy diet with less salt, sugar, and oil.
